Members of the One Million Moms organization gathered to campaign against Disney to drop a storyline for a TV show which they considered inappropriate. The Disney Channel had recently revealed a storyline for an episode of Good Luck Charlie which involved a child with two mothers visiting the protagonist. Disney officials did not respond to One Million Moms and released the episode as planned.
One Million Moms informed Disney through their website that by displaying ideas regarding same-sex marriage and families on a TV channel mostly viewed by young children, the company would open the floodgates for other companies and shows to do the same, enabling a much wider audience to controversial ideas.
Disney has been popular among parents for many decades for it was viewed by many to be appropriate and even beneficial for children's education. Although company insiders have announced that they had consulted child development experts before developing the episode. However, many parents seem unsatisfied by their decision.
Filmmakers at Disney are already discussing producing a feature film about a gay family if they could come up with a good enough story.
