Jeremy Lin, one of the most notable players in the NBA today, opens up about how his faith kept him grounded throughout his journey this season and what kept him going despite the humiliating performance of his team, according to Gospel Herald. Speaking with fans and followers at Hong Kong's Chinese University, the athlete shared the manner by which his religious upbringing allowed him to overcome the obstacles in his path and survive the "toughest year" he ever experienced.
"During the first five games, how many did we win? That's right, zero," Lin shard with the audience. The event was attended by more than a thousand individuals, each intending to see and hear the athlete impart words of wisdom at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. He added, "After 20 games I was benched. We finished the season 21-61, which set a franchise record for the most losses."

The star, who was later on dubbed with the moniker "Linsanity" due to his incredible and unbeatable performance in the court, admitted that "nothing went as planned" during this season as the Los Angeles Lakers struggled to keep their heads high despite the devastating losses they suffered. While this season was described as an "absolute disaster" for the team, Lin shared that he found a silver lining amidst the dark clouds of failure blocking his life at that time.
Talking about finally realizing the true meaning of victory, Lin realized that his definition of success was to focused on his own life and circle. Comprehending how limited his vision was in terms of appreciating his life and dealing with problems, Lin finally understood that he has been looking at the situation wrong all along.
"The key to real success isn't about me - it's about Jesus," the NBA star said, according to South Morning China Post. "That's what I learned in the last season: success doesn't work around my little circle," he added. He then went on to say, "That was possibly the toughest year of my life. But one thing, to me, was that it really drew me closer to Christ." Lin then gave out a nugget of wisdom to the crowd, saying, "Sometimes you have to lose something to see and appreciate what you really have."
Meanwhile, Lin was also asked about his plans to settle down and get married. In response to this question, the NBA star did not give a specific date. Instead, he said, "This will be God's arrangement. I have no idea now."
