Months following the hailed "Fight of the Century" against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather, Jr., it looks like Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is ready to take on another match, according to Bleacher Report. Pacman is reportedly gearing himself up for battle once again by 2016, thereby providing him sufficient time to recover from the controversial shoulder injury he incurred prior to his fight against Pretty Boy on May 2, 2015.
"I'm ready to fight, next year," Pacquiao told the audience in Indonesia, referring to his decision not to let the recent bout against Mayweather the last one in his career, according to Sky Sports. "I'm fine," the Filipino insisted, eliminating doubts linked to the rotator cuff injury he revealed earlier this year. To further illustrate that he is indeed on the road to recovery, Pacquiao raised his arm as proof. The Filipino congressman's presence in Indonesia is rooted on his desire to visit Mary Jane Veloso, a fellow countrywoman, who is currently detained in connection to drug trafficking charges.
Recent reports revealed that Mayweather is looking for an opponent in September. The said schedule will mark the alleged last boxing match he will have in his career - a move that will guarantee his position as the record holder for the boxer who has the most number of undefeated matches throughout his entire professional life, according to a separate Bleacher Report. While a number of fans and followers of both Pacman and Mayweather are eager to see a rematch, especially in light of the disappointing fight they showcased in May, the time frame provided by the two appears to be quite an obstacle to overcome.
Meanwhile, it looks like Pacquiao is keeping himself busy earning the love and respect of his fans. In a recent picture he shared via social media, the Filipino pound for pound king is seen enjoying a very simple meal inside a cramped room. Wearing only a white and colored shorts, he told his followers in Instagram that he is a person who is used to bearing the brunt of poverty. Pacquiao revealed that regardless of whether he earns millions or not, he remains the same - a man with simple tastes and enjoys a no-frills lifestyle. He wrote, "My heart is always humble before God and before man." Pacquiao added, "That's why [I] feel the heart of [the] poor people who are in need. Thank you."
