Nintendo revealed that its 2014 racing game "Mario Kart 8" will soon receive the 200cc upgrade mode as well as the new DLC, Animal Crossing.
The company made the announcement during its Nintendo Direct Presentation, which is an event that focuses on Nintendo's current and upcoming projects.
The arrival of the 200cc upgrade will certainly enhance the game play experience of "Mario Kart 8" as players will be able to play through all of the "Mario Kart 8" tracks' retail and DLC versions at top speeds, according to Cinema Blend. Previously, the game mode for these tracks were only limited to 50, 100 and 150cc.
Although Nintendo did not mention an exact release date for the upgrade, the new mode is expected to arrive sometime this month and will be made available for all "Mario Kart 8" players for free.
Aside from the upgrade, the company also detailed the contents of the Animal Crossing DLC. Scheduled to arrive this month, the DLC comes with weather-based improvements to the game. Specifically, each race will feature a different season or weather condition, Gamerant reported.
In addition, the Animal Crossing DLC will also let players dash through the game's tracks while driving in two new karts.
The first kart is a scooter dubbed as the City Tripper, which looks like a classic Vespa made by the Italian manufacturer Piaggio. The other kart is the Streetle. Unlike the City Tripper, the Streetle is a four-wheeled kart but designed to look like a beetle.
Originally, the Animal Crossing DLC for "Mario Kart 8" was scheduled to arrive in May. However, Nintendo decided to release the content update at an earlier date and will now debut on April 23.
Aside from the weather changes and new karts, the DLC also comes with new characters such as Villager, Dry Bowser and Isabelle. The Animal Crossing DLC can be purchased for $7.99 once it arrives, according to Polygon.
