Following the recently unveiled character posters, 20th Century Fox has also released the brand new trailer for the upcoming sequel "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.'
Actor Dylan O'Brien recently teased several spoilers on what fans can expect in the highly anticipated installment. The 23-year-old actor confirmed that his character Thomas, along with Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Minho (Ki Hong Lee), Frypan (Dexter Darden) and Winston (Alexander Flores) will come face-to-face with the horrific challenges waiting for them behind the wall.
Speaking to Hollywire TV, the "Teen Wolf' star revealed that Thomas will come across several surprises when he finds about what is lurking outside of the maze.
The actor also mentioned that many viewers might believe that the story will fizzle out now that their group has found a way to escape. However, their cliff-hanging journey only begins from here.
O'Brien even admitted that their escape from the maze could be the most dreadful decision they have ever made. He explained how getting out in the real world calls for the need to survive without the walls' protection.
In "The Scorch Trials,' Thomas and the rest of the maze survivors find out about the existence of the Scorch- the most burned-out part of the world. Their group should also be able to cross the region while WICKED puts forth challenges and ensures that the odds are against these teenagers.
As reported by Empire Online, fans who have already gone through the dystopian sci-fi novel by James Dashner are in for a surprise as certain changes in the story have been incorporated into the movie.
Film director Wes Ball announced their decision to alter the order of the series after asking for Dashner's permission with the intention of bringing forth something "new and unexpected" in the franchise.
Earlier this year, 20th Century Fox also unveiled the first trailer and poster for "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' as Thomas tries to stay alive by solving the Maze, succeeding in their quest and learning that they have been caught up in a experiment carried out by the Creators.
"I think it's safe to say the maze trials were a complete success," a woman speaks through a voiceover at the start of the "Scorch Trials' trailer. "It's too soon to say, but they could be the key to everything. It's time now to begin phase two."
The upcoming sequel is set to hit 3D, 2D, and IMAX theaters on Sept. 18. The first installment, which was developed with a budget of $34 million, raked in a whopping $340.8 million at the international box office.
