Actor Michael Keating is determined to win an Oscar, and this time he will have another shot for the award as he portrays McDonald's founder Ray Kroc in the movie entitled The Founder.
The biopic will be directed by John Lee Hancock, and will hit theatres in the U.S. on November 25, 2016, The Hollywood Reporter says.
Keaton was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the award-winning film Birdman, and his new role as the man behind the biggest fast food chain in the world is guaranteed to give him another nod. FilmNation and The Combine are producing the indie film.
It will be written by Robert Siegel (Big Fan) and will showcase the life of Kroc as a salesman from Illinois and how he met Mac and Dick McDonald, who was running the burger joint back in the 1950s in Southern California.
Kroc was so impressed by the brothers' speedy yet efficient system of making the food then serving it, and saw a potential to expand their operation. The Founder will show how Kroc masterfully takes over the company from the brothers and turn it into a billion dollar empire.
It has been said that the tone of the movie will be very similar to The Social Network and There Will Be Blood.
Keaton first rose to fame in 1982 in the movie Night Shift, then propelled to further fame for portraying Bruce Wayne also known as Batman in 1989 then reprised his role in Batman Returns on 1992.
He has starred in a series of dramas after playing the superhero, such as Clean and Sober, The Dream Team, Pacific Heights, Much Ado About Nothing, My Life, The Paper, Multiplicity, Jackie Brown, Need for Speed, and Robocop.
Keaton has also lent his voice to two Pixar films such as Cars in 2006 then Toy Story 3 in 2010.
However, it was the 2014 movie Birdman that Keaton's acting prowess shone the best, and his role as the aging actor earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, the Critics' Choice Award for Best Actor. He was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award, British Academy Film Award, and Academy Award for Best Actor.
Other films that earned him distinction are Live from Baghdad in 2002 and The Company in 2007. He earned a Golden Globe nomination and Screen Actors Guild Award respectively for the two films.
He has also been recognized with a Career Achievement Award from both the Hollywood Film Festival and Zurich Film Festivals.
