A couple of weeks ago, Microsoft announced a brand new entry-level handset that will aim to provide some foothold in the mass market for the Windows Phone 8.1 platform.
In a report by Information Week, the Lumia 435, as well as its bigger sibling Lumia 510 will both aim at the dirt-cheap Android market with their aggressive pricing. As February begins, the Redmond giant has announced that its Microsoft Lumia 435 is now up for pre-orders in the UK.
According to a report by GSM Arena, the WP 8.1-powered handset can be pre-ordered by interested buyers in the EU country, and receive their brand new Lumia smartphones by March 1.
In the report, the device is currently being offered by Amazon for only £88.49 SIM-free and it is available in several color options such as Black, Orange and Green.
Meanwhile, for non-UK consumers who are interested in getting this budget smartphone, the report mentioned that Microsoft is planning to bring the device to other markets as well, including Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Lumia and Microsoft fans who missed the announcement last month will need to check out the Lumia 435's details and specs. In the report, the Microsoft-developed handset boasts a 4-inch LCD display with (480 x 800) resolution, 1GB of RAM to handle most multi-tasking chores, and a Snapdragon 200 with a dual-core CPU running at 1.2GHz.
The Lumia 435 also features a 2-megapixel primary camera, VGA front shooter, 8GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot that can hold up to 128GB of expanded storage. It is also packed with a 1,500mAh battery, which can reportedly last up to 12 hours of talk time, or 21 hours on a 2G network.
Fortunately, the report also confirmed that the Microsoft smartphone will get the final version of Windows 10 when it becomes available. Other Windows Phone handsets that would get the free upgrade include the Lumia 730, 930 and the 1520 phablet.
Reports also added that the handset will be available for $81 in the United States, but there are still no exact details as to when the device will released.
