When the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 was announced a year ago, many believed it to be the future of tablets. In fact, even the laptop industry was threatened by the device's convertible feature.
This year, Microsoft will definitely do everything to make the Surface Pro 4 the biggest thing in technology - yes even bigger than the MacBook Air with Retina Display.
While there are still no hints regarding the announcement of the device, its launch may not be too far away.
According to a report by Christian Post, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is currently in a huge sale promo, which brings its price down to 'just' $800. In recent years, massive discounts for a particular product often raise speculations that a successor is coming.
It has already happened with the iPhones, the Galaxy S flagships, and other high-end devices the past couple of years. That means there is also a possibility that the Surface Pro 4 could be nearing its launch.
In a report by Crossmap, the newest Microsoft convertible is rumored to feature a 12-inch display with a high-end resolution (2560 x 1600), a whopping 16GB of RAM for ultimate multi-tasking capabilities, and 1TB of storage.
In terms of processing power, the Surface Pro 4 will allegedly feature an Intel Core M Broadwell chipset which is a lot faster and more power-efficient than the Haswell model. Moreover, this new chip does not support any fans which will help the Microsoft tablet get a thinner frame.
To top it all, the Surface Pro 4 could be the debut device of the Windows 10 OS from Microsoft. Unlike previous editions, this particular version will be able to run seamlessly on all types of devices.
Considering all of these specs and features, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will definitely give the MacBook Air Retina Display, or even the rumored iPad Pro a run for their money. Unless these two devices are combined in one hybrid MacBook/iPad device, each of them will find it very difficult to match the specs of the Surface Pro 4.
