Mojang, the development studio behind "Minecraft," announced that the "Simpsons" skin pack DLC for the PlayStation versions of the sandbox game will arrive this week.
The Xbox 360 edition of the game, on the other hand, will receive additional achievements as well as bonus music tracks.
The "Simpsons" DLC first debuted for the Xbox One version of the game in January of this year. Now, PlayStation gamers will be able to dress up their "Minecraft" characters in popular "Simpsons" skins when the content update arrives on April 29, according to VG247.
The DLC features skins of the popular cartoon family as well as other characters such as Groundskeeper Willie, Principal Seymour Skinner and even the music teacher Dewey Largo.
Aside from the PlayStation update, Mojang also released new content for the Xbox 360 version of the game. Previously, the Xbox One edition had more achievements than its current-gen counterpart.
But now, through the update, Xbox 360 players will get 30 new achievements that could boost their gamescore to 1,000. In addition, new tunes have also been added to the edition's music track roster.
Lastly, another major update made by Mojang to the "Minecraft" world is the addition of Alex, the game's first female main character.
Before she was introduced, players can only choose the blue-shirt-wearing character Steve when starting a new game. Although Alex has already appeared in other platform versions of "Minecraft," she was only a randomly assigned character. Now, Alex can be selected as the game's main character.
According to Mojang, Alex has thinner arms compared to Steve. She also sports a ponytail and red hair. The development studio noted that she performs the same way as Steve does.
The update featuring Alex is available for free for all platform versions of "Minecraft." Upon starting a new game, players can choose between Steve or Alex and dress them up in each of their own eight new skins.
