Moto G2 Specs & Features: Motorola Releases Upgraded Version of 2nd Generation Moto G Smartphone with 4G LTE Connectivity

Illinois-based telecom company Motorola has released an upgraded version of the Moto G2.

Although the firm retained some of the original features of the original 2nd generation Moto G handset, Motorola equipped its latest smartphone with 4G LTE connectivity, according to Ecumenical News.

The Moto G2 was first released in September of 2014. Less than a year later, Motorola redesigned the handset and improved some of its features and connectivity options.

The most notable addition to its specifications is the 4G LTE support. With the new feature, the new Moto G2 can now connect to LTE bands and offer users wider support for their communication and data needs.

In addition, Motorola has upgraded the pre-installed OS of the Moto G2. The first version came with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat but for the latest model, the out-of-the-box unit runs on the Android 5.0 Lollipop. News site Master Herald noted that the new Moto G2 may also come with a free upgrade to the 5.1 version of the Lollipop OS.

As for its other specs, the latest handset model still sports the same features as the original Moto G2. It has a 5-inch display that's protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has a resolution of 720x1280 pixels.

Like the first model, the recently released Moto G2 is powered by the 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor from Qualcomm and is equipped with 1GB of RAM. It also has 8GB of built-in storage which can be expanded to 32GB with a microSD card.

For its camera features, the device has an 8-megapixel main shooter with LED flash and autofocus features. This is paired with a 2-megapixel camera on the front side.

Another notable difference between the two models is their price. While the original model was sold at around $180, the current Moto G2 has a retail price of $236. Despite the price hike, the Moto G2 is still relatively cheap compared to other smartphone models in the market that offer the same features.
