Almost five months after Motorola announced its 'brand new' Android flagship, the company is finally making the device officially available in China.
According to a report by Phone Arena, the Motorola Moto X (2014 Edition) can now be bought in the world's largest smartphone market.
In a press event in China yesterday, Motorola President and COO Rick Osterloh took center stage and made the boldest of claims, calling the Moto X 2014 as the "the best Android smartphone in the world".
While it is difficult to agree to that claim, the Motorola flagship is indeed a fine device that gets it right in a lot of areas based on different reviews from experts. The phone boasts a 5.2-inch screen that has a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, the company's first in a smartphone, a quad-core CPU running at 2.5GHz, 2GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset.
Also on board lies a 13MP primary camera, a 2MP shooter in front. It is also packed with a 32GB of built-in memory. Unfortunately, the device only has a 2,400mAh battery which is reportedly not enough to get a user through his normal day of moderate use.
In the report, the Moto X 2014 will sell for CNY 2,999 or about $479. However, Motorola will have tough competition in this Chinese market which Samsung just recently lost to Xiaomi during Q4 2014.
Aside from Xiaomi which is considered the 'Apple of China', other brands vying for domination include Lenovo, Huawei, ZTE, and of course Samsung. Apple's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are also doing well in China despite the high prices for both devices.
In the report by Phone Arena, consumers can now pre-order the device, and it will arrive during the third or fourth week of February.
Aside from the Moto X 2014, the company will also offer the Moto G LTE, as well as the Nexus 6, which is dubbed as the Moto X Pro.
