NBA 2015-16 Season Predictions: Carmelo Anthony Likes New York Knicks’ Chances Heading Into New Season

New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony expressed optimism heading into the 2015-16 NBA season.

The Knicks failed to land a big-name free agent during the offseason like LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan, but Anthony said that he liked the moves made by his team this summer.

Anthony, who will be playing in the second season of the five-year deal worth $124 million he signed last summer with the Knicks, said that he is excited to know how far they can go next season.

"I liked the moves that we made," Anthony told ESPN New York. "Was it the stars that we wanted to go after and go get? No. But the pieces that we got, I'm really intrigued at what we did and where we can go with this team."

After failing to convince a top-tier free agent to move to The Big Apple this offseason, the Knicks opted to sign players who are expected to play significant roles like Robin Lopez, Arron Afflalo, Derrick Williams, Kevin Seraphin and Kyle O'Quinn. They also added young prospects Kristaps Porzingis and Jerian Grant from the 2015 NBA Draft.

Anthony revealed that he has been working out with his teammates since last month and the 31-year-old superstar liked what he saw from his teammates.

"I'm excited about kind of what's going on and what's gonna happen," Anthony added. "For guys first starting to come together over the past month, month and a half, it feels like we've been together for a long time. And that's a great feeling."

Anthony, who will be playing in his 13th season in the league, played in just 40 games last season, where he averaged 24.2 points on top of 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. His season was cut short after he decided to undergo knee procedure to fix his ailing left knee.

Heading into the new season, Anthony also said that he is feeling better in terms of physical readiness, reiterating that he is ready to go all out in training camp. The 12-year veteran was cleared to participate in all activities in training camp, which will kick off on Tuesday at West Point.

"I feel like I'm ready to go. I feel like I felt before I even had the injury," Anthony said. "Physically I feel great, mentally I feel great. I'm just ready to get out there and get this thing going. I've been waiting for this since February."
