Kevin Love is being linked to a move out of Cleveland Cavaliers this summer, but the All-Star power forward insisted once again that he expects to be in a wine and gold uniform next season.
Love, who was acquired by the Cavaliers in an offseason trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins, cannot help but watch Cleveland drop Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals on Thursday night.
While the loss was a big blow to the title hopes of the Cavaliers, the series opener also turned out to be an eye-opener for Love, who said that he will stay in Cleveland because he wants to win in a game like Thursday's match.
"Yes. I want to win," Love told Ramona Shelburne of ESPN when asked if he wants to return to Cleveland.
Love, who averaged 16.4 points on top of 9.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game this season, was forced to sit out the rest of the season after undergoing surgery. He dislocated his shoulder with torn labrum and ligament during Game 4 of their first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics.
The 26-year-old forward did not experience post-season basketball during his first six years in the league with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Watching the series-opener between the Cavaliers and Warriors, Love said that he wanted to help his team badly like never before.
"I had so much fun watching it because I want to be in a moment like that," Love said of Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals. "I'd rather be out there helping those guys, and I saw a lot of places where I could help. I've never wanted to be in a game more than that one."
It was not the first time Love reiterated that he is not planning to sign elsewhere this summer. In a recent interview, Love also said that he sees himself wearing the Cavaliers jersey when he makes his debut next season.
Love could opt out of the final year of his deal in the offseason to become a free agent. Previous reports indicated that several teams are keeping an eye on the former UCLA standout, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, who are both trying to rebuild their respective rosters.
