Jeremy Lin made a surprising move when he opted to sign with the Charlotte Hornets. Prior to his stint with the basketball team, the Linsanity graced the locker rooms of bigger and more popular NBA groups. These teams included Kobe Bryant's Los Angeles Lakers, James Harden's Houston Rockets and even Stephen Curry's Golden State Warriors. At the end of the day, however, Lin chose to pursue an opportunity in a more relaxed environment.
Lin became an unrestricted free agent during the NBA offseason. Throughout his career in basketball, he had been known as one of the most focused and goal-oriented players. His stint with the Los Angeles Lakers saw Lin surpass the performances of today's stars such as D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Roy Hibbert. However, injuries later on prevented him from playing up to his full potential. His time with the Dwight Howard squad in Houston as well as the Draymond Green team in the Golden State also showcased his impeccable skills in the hardwood court.
Hence, Lin's move to the Charlotte Hornets came as an unexpected decision. According to the basketball star though, his determination to go and create a fresh start in the said team also signified his desire to get rid of all the unnecessary stress in his life.
"When the free agency time came around, we had done a lot of homework and research before that to see what the potential best fits were," shared Lin in an interview with Xinhua News. He added, "Of all the final options, I felt very confident in Charlotte, I'm just happy to be here."
Reflecting on the past year, Lin also shared that his experiences allowed him to grow into a better Christian. He disclosed how much he now focuses on enjoying his life on a daily basis instead of stressing over minor details. Lin shared, "I think I grew a lot as a person, I learned a lot about myself. I took steps in terms of slowing down and appreciating life instead of being so fixated on what I wanted to accomplish. It was a tough year and I learned a lot. I can look back and be thankful for all the experiences."
What do you think? Did Lin make the right decision when he dropped offers from the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors? Is he better off with the Charlotte Hornets?
