The Brooklyn Nets are still active on the trade front as reports revealed that they are still looking to part ways with starting center Brook Lopez, and are also monitoring free-agent big man Andray Blatche.
NBA insider Marc Stein of ESPN reported that the Nets have been receiving offers from several teams for Lopez, including a trade package from the Denver Nuggets.
Sources indicated that the Nuggets offered JaVale McGee and J.J. Hickson along with the two first-round picks that they acquired in the trade that sent Timofey Mozgov to the Cleveland Cavaliers last month.
However, the Nets reportedly turned down the offer as they are looking for more valuable assets before giving up Lopez. Sources indicated the Nets are willing to wait in the remaining weeks before the deadline to find the best offer for the 26-year-old center.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are also reportedly planning to make a strong push to acquire Lopez, who is averaging 15.3 points to go along with 6.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game this season.
The seven-year veteran is playing in the final two years of his contract that will pay him $15.7 million this season and $16.7 million next season if he decides to exercise his player option, which he is expected to do.
Aside from Lopez, the Nets are also trying to find the best offers for stars Deron Williams and Joe Johnson. They are willing to part ways with both All-Star guards as long as they will get players who would help them remain a playoff team in the Eastern Conference.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported last week that the Nets are also engaged in talks with the Charlotte Hornets for a trade involving Johnson. According reports, the two teams are discussing a deal that would send Johnson to Charlotte in exchange for Lance Stephenson, Gerald Henderson and Marvin Williams.
In a separate report, Stein also revealed that the Nets are also eyeing a reunion with Blatche, who played 73 regular-season games in Brooklyn last season and 82 games during the 2012-13 NBA season.
Blatche, who played for the Philippine national team at the 2014 FIBA World Cup last offseason, recently became available to interested teams after ending his stint in the Chinese Basketball Association.
Blatche was one of the top players in the league as he averaged 31.1 points and 14.6 rebounds, but he failed to lead the Xinjiang Flying Tigers to the CBA playoffs.
The Memphis Grizzlies are also looking to shore up their frontline for a possible playoff run this season, and are interested in signing the 28-year-old center, who averaged 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds with the Nets last season.
