Jeremy Lin and Nick Young are facing uncertain future with their current team and both players might not be in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform again next season.
Lin, who was acquired by the Lakers in a trade with the Houston Rockets in the offseason, will become an unrestricted free agent after the current season.
The 26-year-old point guard, who averaged 11.2 points to go along with 4.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds this season, said that he is open to re-signing with the Lakers in the offseason.
However, Lin insisted that he will consider moving to another team if he will be given a better role. The former Harvard University standout admitted earlier this year that he was hurt when he was moved to a bench role after starting in their first 19 games this season.
"I want to find a good place and hopefully the best place I can fit in at," Lin told Los Angeles Daily News. "I want to be able to find a good fit for me."
On the other hand, Young is reportedly on trading block after struggling this season and after having clashes with Lakers coach Byron Scott. The 29-year-old guard still has three years, $16.3 million left in his contract, but the Lakers will reportedly entertain trade offers for Young.
Young averaged 13.4 points this season, but shot a career-low 36.6 percent from the field, including a 36.9 percent clip from beyond the arc. When asked about his struggles, Young jokingly blamed it on the rim.
"The rim was tripping this year," said Young, who averaged 17.9 points on 43.5 percent shooting from the field last season. "Next year, I'm going to take her on a date and treat her a little better."
Young also earned the ire of Scott and injured superstar Kobe Bryant earlier in the season after a post-game celebration following their 14th victory in 55 games. His rocky relationship with Scott is reportedly the main reason why the Lakers will look to trade him in the offseason.
When asked about talks about his future in Los Angeles, Young said that he is not thinking about it, but he is ready for anything in the offseason.
"Right now, I'm just trying to forget about all that and focus on the relaxation I need," Young told Los Angeles Times. "Get away from basketball and get a chance to miss it. Right now, I'm just trying to clear my head."
