Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant is sidelined by his ailing foot, but the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player is expected to make headlines in the coming week.
Nike will release the new colorway of the popular signature shoe of Durant - the KD 7 - on Thursday worldwide. And based on how the shoe is making noise online over the past several days, it is expected to be among the hottest items on the sneaker market in weeks to come.
The KD 7 will be made available in Emerald Green/Dark Emerald/Total Orange/Metallic Silver colorway or more popularly known as the "Weatherman" edition.
With its green-based upper part combined with black and orange hints, fans of the KD shoe line can easily identify it as the "Weatherman" edition that is related to previous versions that showed Durant's love of meteorology.
"Kevin Durant's fascination with meteorology comes alive in the Nike KD7 Weatherman shoe," Nike wrote in a statement. "This new colorway of Durant's seventh signature shoe features a green upper in homage to newsroom green screens used by meteorologists."
The shoe also features a Doppler radar-inspired graphics on the heel. Like the previous KD shoes, the overall look represents a story related to the Thunder superstar. This time it is about Durant's dream to become a weatherman during his childhood.
"Each colorway of the KD7 reveals a piece of Durant's life story," Nike added. "The weather-themed storyline was revealed last June as part of the shoe's overall inspiration connected to lightning and thunder, building on the legacy that began with the KD4 Weatherman in 2011."
Fans of the KD 7 "Weatherman" could get their own pair starting Thursday for $150 per pair on Nike.com and select stores worldwide. Official photos and more information about the new KD shoes are available on this link.
Aside from the KD 7 "Weatherman" edition, Nike will also release a new colorway of the Stefan Janoski Max L. It will arrive at retailers in Black/Cool Grey/Metallic Cool Grey colorway, dubbed as the "NYC" edition. As the name itself suggests, this edition was inspired by the streets of New York.
"A custom New York sewer cap emblem adorns the foot bed of this premium Black leather Janoski Max while the embroidered Metallic Cool Grey Swoosh and speckled outsole echo the rugged utility of the city that never sleeps," Nike said in a statement.
The Nike SB Stefan Janoski Max L "NYC" will be released on Wednesday and will be available for $110 each. Official photos are available on this link.
