Nubia Z9 Release Date & Specs: ZTE’s Latest Smartphone Features Edge-to-Edge 5.2-Inch Display

ZTE has officially unveiled the three variants of its Nubia Z9 smartphones in China.

The three models, namely the Nubia Z9 Classic, Z9 Elite and Z9 Exclusive sport similar designs but have varying memory specifications and other features, NDTV reported.

The smartphones will go on sale in China starting on May 21. The Z9 classic will cost CNY 3,499 or $564 while the Elite version of the handset can be purchased for CNY 3,999 or around $645. The Z9 Exclusive, which comes with a fingerprint sensor, will be priced at CNY 4,499 or about $725.

ZTE has not yet confirmed when the three versions of the Nubia Z9 will debut in the U.S.

All three models are equipped with a 5.2-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1980x1920 pixels. The display features a reflective bezel that measures 0.8 millimeters thick. Its reflective design makes the screen appear as if it spans the edges of the smartphone.

For its CPU, ZTE equipped the Nubia Z9 with the 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. The handset's GPU is the Adreno 430. The three variants come with a 16-megapixel main camera with Sony's IMX234 Exmor RS sensor.

On the front side, the smarthones sport an 8-megapixel camera with 80-degree wide-view lens. The front camera also features Sony technology, according to PC Mag.

The Nubia Z9 classic has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage while the Z9 Elite is packed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.

The Z9 Exclusive has the same RAM and storage capacity as the Elite version. The main difference between the two is the addition of the fingerprint sensor on the Exclusive model. ZTE did not mention if any of the smartphone models can support a microSD card.

All of the Nubia Z9 variants run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop-based Nubia UI 3.0 and come with a 2900mAh battery.
