Chinese telecom company ZTE has pushed back the release date of its Nubia Z9 Max phablet to May of this year.
The company cited issues with the device's manufacturing process as the primary reason behind the delay, NDTV reported.
Originally, the ZTE Nubia Z9 Max was supposed to be launched sometime this month. However, due to the complicated process involved in making the phablet, ZTE decided to hold back its release by a month.
According to the company, it upholds strict quality control measures for all of its products. For this reason, ZTE delayed the launch of the Nubia Z9 Max in order to ensure that it goes through all the necessary quality test procedures.
Although the company did not provide an exact release date for its debut, the ZTE Nubia Z9 Max will hit stores in China in May and will have a retail price of CNY 2,499 or around $402.
The latest smartphone from ZTE is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor that clocks in at 1.5 GHz and runs on the pre-installed Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS. It has 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage that can be expanded through a microSD card.
The ZTE Nubia Z9 Max is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera as well as an 8-megapixel front camera. Its connectivity options are supported by 4G LTE, dual band Wi-Fi, NFC and OTG. The device also sports a 5.5-inch display screen with a resolution of 1080x1820 pixels.
The Nubia Z9 Max was first unveiled last month along with its smaller counterpart, the Z9 Mini, according to GSM Arena. The cheaper Z9 Mini, which costs around CNY 1,499 or $240, has a 5-inch touch screen display and uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset and has 2GB of RAM. The smartphones' 16 GB of storage can also be expanded.
The ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini is already available in stores and less than a minute after its official debut, more 68,000 units of the smartphone were already sold.
