Once Upon A Time is known for its twists and turns as the characters, who the fans and followers began to identify and admire as protagonists as well as despise and hate as antagonists, are frequently revealed to harbor deep dark secrets or extremely painful memories.

These secrets could either make the viewers realize the reasons for their actions or break their hearts as they reveal their true nature. This appears to be the case in the latest episode of the show as the well loved main characters, Snow White and Prince Charming, are exposed to be keeping an evil side all along, according to Variety.

"It's in the 'Once Upon a Time' realm to take these characters and constantly be changing them. In our universe, no one is 100 percent good and no one is 100 percent evil, so it's just another facet to these characters, which I love," Josh Dallas, who portrayed David otherwise known as Prince Charming, shared as an explanation for the latest and upcoming episodes.

The fourteenth episode of Once Upon A Time's fourth season was titled Unforgiven and featured the theme, "Secrets, secrets are no fun. Secrets, secrets hurt someone." This latest installment revealed how far Mary Margaret or Snow White, played by Ginnifer Goodwin, and David would go just to protect their child and guarantee that she treks the "right" path.

The flashback featured in the said episode revealed that the then unborn child of the couple could either lead the life of a good citizen and hero or become an evil villain --- much like the Queens of Darkness, namely, Maleficent, brought to life by Kristin Bauer van Straten, Cruella de Vil, played by Victoria Smurfit, and Ursula, portrayed by Merrin Dungey.

Prior to the curse affecting everyone in the kingdom, the trio of evil was shown seeking the help of both Prince Charming and Snow White to get back the spell from Regina, played by Lana Parilla. They decided to do so in an effort to spare themselves as well from the consequences of the evil curse. However, the royal couple shunned them due to the distrust they felt against the three.

This rejection did not deter Maleficent as she returned and spoke to Snow White, revealing that she was with child as well. She then begged for the latter's help to protect her unborn child but to no avail.

However, this does not end the deception of the couple as it was later on revealed that the knowledge of using the magic tree came from the three witches. Hence, it was made clear in the episode that both Snow White and Prince Charming deceived everyone in the kingdom into thinking that the child they bore would be their savior as she could trek a completely different path from her parents.

Although this may come as a surprise not only for the fans of the couple but also for the followers of the series, Once Upon A Time's executive producer, Adam Horowitz, said that this is only "the tip of the iceberg of the secret that you saw." He further added that, "Our hope is that by the time everything is revealed, you'll see it really informs who they were in season one, when you met them for the first time."

With all these revelations, fans of the show will definitely need to keep watching to find out how Maleficent exacts her revenge for the death of her child as well as how Emma will react once the secrets are out.
