Almost a year after OnePlus unveiled its Android 'flagship killer' smartphone, reported claimed that the device is already under development and should be ready for release before June.
Unfortunately, GSM Arena pointed out that the handset could arrive much later than previously expected. Dubbed as OnePlus Two, the smartphone was expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2015, but that time frame has been moved to the third quarter.
The delay is reportedly caused by issues regarding Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset, which has been giving manufacturers troubles over the past several weeks because of overheating problems.
Just a few weeks ago, Samsung allegedly decided to launch its Galaxy S6 with an Exynos chipset instead of the Qualcomm chipset due to potential overheating problems with Snapdragon. Several days later, rumors claimed that the Korean brand has completely scraped the Qualcomm chip in favor of its homebaked SoC.
However, OnePlus is not capable of doing the same thing. Aside from the fact that they do not have a chipset-making department, the company is still pretty new to oversee the development of both phones and phone parts.
Other smartphone brands such as LG and Xiaomi have already used the Snapdragon 810 in its latest handsets, the LG G Flex 2 and the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro.
Last year, OnePlus rocked the smartphone world with its clever marketing campaigns. For weeks, the manufacturer showcased its OnePlus One Android flagship little by little, and it worked.
By the time OnePlus One was set to be launched, thousands of people have showed their support to the phone maker, which will include CyanogenMod in the high-end device. Unfortunately, a lot of reports claimed that the OnePlus One came DOA (dead on arrival) due to the company's tedious invitation program.
