The pastor of Mission 7 Ministries, Derek Reimer, is a vocal critic of the Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSR). These story hours are conducted by men who dress up as women to read to children. On Tuesday, April 4, five days before Easter, Calgary police officers arrested Pastor Reimer for protesting in front of the Genesis Centre. The scene was captured on video and posted on Rumble.

Charges Against Pastor Derek Reimer

The Christian Post reported that Reimer referred to his detention as "outrageous." He said he was "nearly a kilometer away from the Genesis Centre, just preaching, making people aware of what was taking place there." He was alluding to a DQSR when he declared that the "pervert grooming hour" that was taking place had been the focal point of his opposition.

"The cops come up, you can already see in the video, they arrest me, they're not telling me even what I'm arrested for or what the warrants are for," he added. However, Pastor Reimer was informed by the authorities that there was an outstanding warrant for eight additional crimes.

Among the eight charges are five counts of violating the requirements imposed by the court, two instances of inciting a disturbance, and one offense of criminal harassment.

As per The City of Cavalry Newsroom, the City Council of Calgary recently passed the Safe & Inclusive Access bylaw. They are dedicated to ensuring that all citizens of Calgary who seek to access public services and facilities are not subjected to messages or behavior that is resentful, intimidating, harassing, or discriminating against others.

In addition, the bylaw makes it illegal for specific demonstrations to occur inside a City-run leisure facility (or another authorized facility) or within 100 meters of the entrance to a library. It is applicable during regular business hours and the hours before and after those hours.

Series of Arrest on Pastor Derek Reimer

The pastor, who is 36 years old, was initially taken into custody following an incident on February 25. Several men physically threw him out of Seton Library in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Yahoo Finance reported. Pastor Reimer was there to voice his opposition to the Reading with Royalty event hosted by the Calgary Public Library, which featured local drag performers reading to children.

On March 15, he was arrested for a second time in a parking lot across the street from the Signal Hill Library in Calgary. Footage of the incident shows officers putting handcuffs on him, and dragging him over the asphalt before putting him in a police van and driving him away. He was accused of violating a release order, which stated that he was not allowed to communicate with persons who identified as LGBTQ or to be within 200 meters of activities involving the LGBTQ community.

According to The Daily Declaration, after the legalization of same-sex marriage and the widespread promotion of "queer" sexuality, the Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) has become frequent in taxpayer-funded venues around Western countries.

The practice involves grown men dressing up as caricatures of women that are exaggeratedly sexualized and wearing clothing that is not typical of what women would wear in similar circumstances. The older guys then read aloud to the younger children to destigmatize "gender fluidity" and familiarize future generations with "queer role models."

Moreover, the DQSH events make fun of femininity and desensitize kids by exposing them to explicit depictions of adult sexuality. Yet, these events are billed as kid-friendly, innocuous, and pleasant entertainment; DQSH events criticize femininity.
