Details from the ongoing investigation on the death of Bravo star Greg Plitt Jr. revealed that the the gruesome accident could have been prevented. The surveillance footage recorded that day showed that proper precautionary measures could have stopped the incident from happening, USA Today reported.
"Witnesses interviewed at the scene confirmed they were shooting a video for a sports drink, and at no point did Mr. Plitt say he would be running between the rails," Joshua Kendrick, a Burbank Police Department, told TheWrap on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Metrolink spokesperson Jeff Lustgarten claimed that the accident that took the life of Plitt was "very, very preventable."
"Had the proper channels been followed, this would not have happened," he shared. Lustgarten also added that Plitt was unauthorized to shoot on the train tracks. Moreover, the spokesman disclosed that no permit was filed since the department "normally assign a flagman to the shoot."
Lustgarten explained that working with a flagman could have prevented the tragic death of Plitt. He imparted that such employee is knowledgeable of the train schedules of Metrolink and could also take charge of communicating with the operations department to get information about an incoming train. To ensure that the department does not make unsubstantiated claims, Lustgarten guaranteed that they thoroughly checked their records for a permit filed by Plitt and his crew.
In an official statement released by the Burbank Police Department earlier this week, the authorities disclosed the initial findings of the responding officers in the scene.
Meanwhile, In Plitt's official website, the fitness guru's family posted a message to the public and his fans following the tragic incident:
"We are devastated over the loss of our son. Your messages have uplifted us and give us strength; we thank you for that. Greg's soul is now with our heavenly Father. May his spirit live on through his website and through each of you. As we mourn and honor our son and brother, how prophetic his own words: 'When you are wondering how do you go on? The better question is, how do you NOT go on?'"
A public memorial service will be held at Saturday, 2:00 PM EST at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills. Another service will be held the week after in Baltimore, MD, Plitt's hometown. Additional information regarding the ceremonies will be posted soon after these are finalized.
