Religious Freedom Extended Within Armed Forces

The Department of Defense has officially announced that the military will be allowing troops to wear religious attire, such as head scarfs, turbans and beards. The new policy is expected to open more opportunities for Sikh, Muslim and Jewish men to join the armed forces. The policy also extends to Jews and Christians, and even prohibiting any kind of action against other beliefs.

Right now, the policy is still in its early stages, and in order for a soldier of Muslim or Sikh faith to wear such religious garments or long hair he must acquire permission from a high ranking officer, but this process takes as long as several months. However, religious accommodations of the military are expected widen even further very soon.
