Sacramento City College Shooting - 1 Killed, 2 Wounded by Male Gunman in California: SPD Conducts Ongoing Homicide Investigation, Tongan Suspect Still at Large

Three men were shot by a male Tongan at Sacramento City College in California on Thursday, Sept. 3. One victim was pronounced dead at SCC. Two other victims suffered gunshot wounds. The killer fled the scene and has not yet been caught by the Sacramento City Police.

"Lastest suspect info: 1 suspect who is not in custody, male Tongan white shirt/beige cargo shorts, last seen fleeing foot from the shooting," tweeted Sacramento Police on Thursday at 6:25 p.m.

The shootings occurred at about 3:56 p.m. PT in a parking lot nearby SCC's baseball field. Rick Brewer, a SCC spokesperson, told NBC News that a few men were arguing when the Tongan male suddenly pulled out a handgun and shot three men.

One of the survivors suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to U.C. Davis Medical Center for immediate treatment. The other victim was grazed by a bullet and did not require serious medical attention.

"Sad incident on the edge of the campus. Search is occurring in and around the campus. Air ship is supporting search," tweeted SPD Chief Sam Somers on Thursday at 5:51 p.m.

All classes at SCC were cancelled for the day, as the campus was on lock down at 4:13 p.m. Every person was evacuated from the school at 6:25 p.m. The homicide investigation is active and the suspect has not yet been captured by the SPD, as of 7:48 p.m.

SCC tweeted that classes would resume session on Friday. SCC is a two-year community college in the capitol of California. The campus is a part of the Los Rios Community College District.
