Samsung is reportedly working on the successor of the Galaxy Note 4.
Dubbed as the Galaxy Note 5, the latest smartphone from Samsung is expected to debut sometime this year.
Some sources say that the tech giant might unveil its newest mobile device in September. However, other reports suggest that the Galaxy Note 5 might arrive at an earlier date, which is around August, International Business Times reported.
As to the smartphone's possible specs, the Galaxy Note 5 might come in two versions: the 5.89-inch flat display edition and the 5.78-inch dual-edge model, according to Inquisitr. Both variants are expected to sport the Ultra HD display screen with a resolution of 2160x3840 pixels.
However, since Samsung plans to manufacture the display screens in August, the Galaxy Note 5 will most likely not get an early debut date.
In addition, Roh Tae-Moon, the executive vice president of Samsung, teased that the rumored smartphone might sport a curved display.
"There is a possibility that Samsung will introduce the curved display for the Galaxy Note lineup," the executive told Korea Herald via G4Games.
For its processor, Samsung could turn to its own Exynos 7 octa-core chipset to power the device since this is also what the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge use. However, chip-maker Qualcomm is reportedly negotiating with Samsung to have the Snapdragon 820 processor manufactured at the latter's facility, Gotta be Mobile has learned.
Although nothing is confirmed yet regarding the deal, this suggests that the Galaxy Note 5 might be powered by the Snapdragon 820.
Other rumored features of the device include wireless charging, fingerprint scanner, retina scanner, water-resistant body and a scratch-resistant screen cover. The Galaxy Note 5 might also have a 16-megapixel rear camera paired with a 3.7-megapixel front camera. The device is expected to have 4GB of RAM.
