Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S6 flagship is probably one of the most awaited smartphones that is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress on March 1. As the event draws near, it also appears to be the worst-kept secret.
According to a report by GSM Arena, a couple of smartphone support pages were spotted on two Samsung websites. The two pages are reportedly being prepared for the upcoming Galaxy S6, and the Galaxy S Edge.
In the report, Samsung websites in Sweden and Finland have launched two blank support pages, which are allegedly alotted for the two high-end devices that will make their debut next month in Barcelona.
In the report, the two devices have model numbers SM-G920X and SM-G925X. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to get the first model number, while the mysterious dual curved edge Galaxy S Edge should get the second model number based on previous leaks. The report mentioned that these model numbers would be the European versions of the two Android smartphones.
A couple of weeks ago, no one knew whether Samsung would include the Galaxy S Edge on the list of devices that will make their appearance at the MWC. However, the Korean brand's invitation showcased what appears to be the silhouette of the new device. Since then, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S Edge have been inseparable when it comes to leaks and rumors.
As far as previous rumors are concerned, the two devices will boast more or less a 5-inch display, a QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB of RAM, and a distinct new design. Based on Samsung previous metal-clad smartphones (Galaxy Alpha, A7, A5, etc.) it will not be surprising if the Galaxy S6 will be the company's first Galaxy S smartphone to get the highly-touted metal or steel frame.
Other rumored specs include a 16MP or 20MP primary camera with OIS, a 5MP front camera, and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
Previous report said that Samsung may not use Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 810 chipsets due to overheating issues. While other OEMs are reportedly planning to use the latest SoC, the Korean manufacturer may be aiming for safety and security. In a recent statement by Qualcomm, some of the manufacturers that are working with them include Sony, HTC and Microsoft.
If Samsung chooses to pass Snapdragon 810, reports said the company may use its home-baked Exynos 7420 instead.
