The Mobile World Congress is just around the corner, and with it comes some of the best smartphones of the year.
Among the heavyweights that are expected to make a big hit at the Barcelona event are the flagships of HTC, Samsung and Sony. Other brands are also rumored to boast their own devices, but reports suggest that they are not flagships.
Two weeks before the MWC kicks off, a new report claims that the new Samsung Galaxy S6 will feature one major letdown for consumers and Android fans - a small battery.
According to a report by GSM Arena, the highly anticipated handset will only run on 2,600mAh battery. In the report, the rumor comes from a source in South Korea, home of Samsung Electronics.
The rumored feature is definitely strange especially as Samsung has continuously improved its battery capacity for the Galaxy S flagships. Last year, the Galaxy S5 was announced with a 2,800mAh battery, and even with that power, users were still complaining that their smartphones drain power all too easily.
Indeed, the Korean brand included a Power Saving Mode, but that feature will only hinder the device from reaching its full potential in terms of productivity. With all those issues, it is bewildering if Samsung would only include a 2,600mAh battery, as mentioned in the rumor.
Last year, the Galaxy S5 was run by a 2,800mAh power source and it only needed to power a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. However, this time around, rumors surrounding the Galaxy S6 are pointing to a QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and the company's own Exynos chipsets. With all these updated specs, the 200mAh-less battery may not be able to power the handset for a long time.
It will only be a couple more weeks before the world finds out what Samsung has in store for the mobile market.
According to the report by GSM Arena, the company's invitation indicates that Samsung will also announce the Galaxy S Edge, the phone that allegedly boasts a dual curved edge display. While the Galaxy Note Edge had one, the S Edge will reportedly pack two - which are expected to provide better features for consumers and users.
For both devices, previous rumors claim 16MP primary snappers and 5MP front cameras, metal frames just like the Galaxy A lineup, water resistance, the same heart-rate monitor that came with the Galaxy S5, and a fingerprint scanner.
