Ryan Murphy's new comedy horror series "Scream Queens" is going to be really special in more ways than one.

Not only is it going to usher in a new genre of television, but it is also going to recreate possibly one of the most iconic scenes in horror history - the screaming shower scene made by Janet Leigh in the film "Psycho."

Leigh's own daughter Jamie Lee Curtis is going to star in the series as Dean Cathy Munsch, the sorority mother of the Kappa House. For so long, the actress has tried not to live off the glory of her mother's acting career, and carve a niche of her own in Hollywood.

She managed to do just that throughout her career, and now that she's a well-established actress in her own right, Curtis decided that there's no harm now in recreating a scene which her mother popularized.

On her Twitter account, the actress even shared a photo of herself doing the scene while holding up a photo of her mother doing the said scene.

"Recreated Mom's PSYCHO shower scene 4 a special ep of @ScreamQueens @JOAQUINSEDILLO  #ScreamQueens Tues 9/22 8pm FOX," she wrote.

During an interview with Variety, Curtis explained why she finally took the plunge and did the scene.

"My entire life I have refused to step into the shower because it belongs to my mother," she said. "I have attempted to step out of the shadow of my parents for a long time."

But when she was presented with the scene, which was written by co-creator Brad Falchuck, she cannot help but think that the time was finally right for it.

"It felt like they're both gone, and enough time has passed," she said. "This role has appeared in my life. It's unexpected and delightful."

There was only one condition Curtis asked from Ryan Murphy and the rest of the crew: "If we're going to go for it, let's go for it. Let's be accurate as we can. And we did."

The scene appears "way down the line" in the show's 15-episode run, she added, and she could not be happier with the results.

People questioned why Curtis released a photo of the scene early, even before the series aired, but she explained: "As soon as Ryan saw that picture, he said put it out. So I did."

"Scream Queens" will premieres at 8 p.m. on September 22 on Fox.
