A new 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' TV spot was revealed during the three-hour "Thank God It's Thursday' night block by ABC. The one-minute video revealed footage of a gun-wielding Han Solo back in action.
The network's lineup, which featured Shonda Rhimes' hit drama shows "Grey's Anatomy,' "Scandal,' and "How to Get Away With Murder,' also showed cast members from the different shows expressing their love for Star Wars. Rhimes then announced the trailer.
Fans caught a glimpse of Harrison Ford's character handing Rey (Daisy Ridley) a blaster of some sort, saying, "You might need this." Later on, Han is shown working up a sweat in a shootout, while Finn (John Boyega) uses Luke Skywalker's (Mark Hamill) old lightsaber to battle it out with a stormtrooper, who seemingly possesses a weapon that interferes with the power of the blade.
As for Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill's character remains absent in the latest "Star Wars: The Force Awakens' trailer.
With ABC's new teaser, the footage gives a closer look at how Ridley's and Boyega's characters first crossed paths. Rey and Finn can also been seen holding hands as they try to run from a TIE fighter attack. Rey enters the Resistance command station, where General Leia (Carrie Fisher) who is not called Princess anymore, and C-3PO are among those who have been assembled. Fisher's real-life daughter, Billie Lourd, has also been featured in the scene.
The tagline "every generation has a story" drops hints about the two young lead characters in the movie to be possibly related to well-known characters from previous installments in the saga.
There have been speculations that a new family bond between Rey and Kylo Ren might be discovered in the upcoming movie, suggesting that the two could be sister and brother. They are even said to be the children of either Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia and Han Solo.
The new "Star Wars: The Force Awakens' TV spot features a portion of the film's score from composer John Williams, who is expected to bag his 50th Oscar nomination in the original score race.
Helmed by J.J. Abrams, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens' is set for an official release on Dec. 18.
