In the upcoming film "Suicide Squad,' the Joker, played by Jared Leto, hands over a special present to Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn: a rat. Despite crew members suggesting that the actress gets rid of the rodent, the 24-year-old star had other humane plans.
"If Harley got something from Joker, she'd probably cherish it," Robbie said in an interview with Elle magazine for the August issue.
Not only did Robbie save the rat but she's also given her pet a name ("Rat Rat") and a lavish new life. Rat Rat feasts on organic berries from Whole Foods, the Australian actress tells the magazine, a high level of achievement many human beings can only wish for.
Meanwhile, Robbie's upcoming film "Suicide Squad' recently had its trailer officially released by Warner Bros. Pictures after several days of leaked recordings going viral online.
When the new "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' trailer made its debut at San Diego Comic-Con, fans began to wonder why the "Suicide Squad' Comic-Con footage was not yet made available.
Sue Kroll, President Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures released the following statement: "Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed."
She also explained their regrets in unveiling the clip, although they felt the need to make its official release due to the low quality of the leaked recordings from their official presentation.
"We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation," Kroll added.
Aside from Robbie and Leto, "Suicide Squad' stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
Aside from these confirmed characters, there are also mystery roles for Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Raymond Olubowale, Alex Meraz, Jim Parrack and Common.
Developed by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru in the late 1950's, the Suicide Squad team has featured numerous DC villains, including Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Bane, Killer Frost, Poison Ivy, Count Vertigo, Deathstroke, and Harley Quinn.
The CW's "Arrow' also introduced their own version of the Suicide Squad in its last season while the recent animated film, "Batman: Assault on Arkham,' showed another version of the team.
Directed and penned by Ayer, Suicide Squad will continue production until September for an official release on Aug. 5, 2016.
