After her husband finally signed an agreement this weekend to take on the role of Gambit on the big screen for 20th Century Fox, Jenna Dewan-Tatum has also signed on for a recurring role on CBS's brand new series, "Supergirl.'
Channing Tatum's wife will play the character of Lucy Lane, a key role in the superhero fiction series as she is the younger sister of Lois Lane.
As pointed out by E! Online, Dewan-Tatum's character is as "brash and funny" as Lois. She will cross paths with Jimmy Olsen, played by Mechad Brooks, and will set for Metropolis to address previous issues. The character will reportedly be depicted as a smart and successful woman.
Looking into the source material, Lucy made her first appearance as the airline stewardess who becomes Olsen's love interest, despite having bumps along the way in their relationship.
She is also the most recent female to be identified as Superwoman and is capable of demonstrating Kryptonian abilities.
Developed by Otto Binder and Curt Swan, Lucy was introduced in the comic book "Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen' No. 36.
Meanwhile, the TV adaptation "Supergirl' follows the story of Kara Zor-El, who lives with the Danvers family after being sent to Earth from Krypton. The 24-year-old superhero makes use of her power in an ill-fated event, and her adoptive parents share their knowledge for her to take extra caution when using her powers. Zor-El is also known as the biological cousin of Superman.
"Supergirl' is scheduled to make its official premiere on Oct. 26, 2015, and has been developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg.
Aside from Dewan-Tatum, other cast members include Melissa Benoist, Calista Flockhart. David Harewood and Chyler Leigh.
Dewan-Tatum previously made special appearances in "The Witches of East End,' "American Horror Story: Asylum' and "The Playboy Club.'
The 34-year-old actress began her career as a backup dancer for major music artists such as Janet Jackson and Missy Elliott. Later on, her acting career was bolstered by taking on the role of Nora in the 2006 film "Step Up,' in which she starred with Tatum.
In an interview with E! News, Dewan-Tatum opened up about giving their only child, 2-year-old daughter Everly, a little sibling in the near future.
"Yeah, yeah!" she said, when asked about expanding their family. "I don't know when, but we definitely want to."
Meanwhile, in a recent Vanity Fair interview, Tatum described his wife "a super mom."
As a response, the actress admired her husband for saying positive words about her and further shared about her experiences in staying hands-on with their daughter.
"It made me feel really, really good," Dewan-Tatum said at the Celebration of Dance Gala. "I love our daughter so much, she is literally the light of my life. I am with her all the time. It is the source in everything that life is about to me, so to have him say that is really sweet!"
