"Supernatural' season 11 has been set for an official premiere on October with which the episode will highlight Sam, Dean and Castiel's efforts in uniting to take on a common threat, Darkness.
The premiere episode will also put forward a new villain Amara, a femme fatale who has power over her acid tongue and enticing beauty. The character was brought to earth when Darkness was released in last season's finale.
At the Television Critics Association summer press tour, The CW network president Mark Pedowitz discussed the possible duration of the hit TV series.
"If the numbers hold and the [producers] want to do it, we're in," he said of carrying on with the series further than the upcoming season 11. "We're very excited that the guys want to keep on doing it. They bring fresh enthusiasm every week."
Meanwhile, "Supernatural' season 11 spoilers have gone viral online, drawing attention to more brotherly moments between Sam and Dean, the introduction of a new threat and the comeback of Castiel.
Following an intense season 10 where Dean transformed into a demon and attempted to kill Sam, fans are looking forward to lighter, more positive moments between the Winchester brothers. The duo is also expected to fight side by side against Darkness in the upcoming installment.
Jensen Ackles, who takes on the role of elder brother Dean, revealed during the Comic-Con event that the siblings are set to battle Darkness.
"One of things I like about [the Season 11 storyline] is it's going back to the original format of having both brothers unaffected, meaning not drinking demon blood, not with the Mark of Cain on their arm," he said.
Meanwhile, fans can look forward to Castiel siding with Sam and Dean as they set aside their differences and team up to battle it out with the pre-biblical threat.
"We are going to see them put their differences aside and unite against that common enemy," Misha Collins, who plays the Angel, shared about the season 11. "I think that they are aware that the presence of The Darkness is actually their fault and they have to clean up the mess that they have made."
When it comes to a possible "Supernatural' spinoff, network president Pedowitz shared his sentiments, saying, "We'd love to do one. It probably will not happen this year, but at some point, there will be another swing."
The "Supernatural' season 11 premiere episode will air on Oct. 7 on The CW.
