Taylor Swift no longer solely appeal to the younger generations but also to the politicians from Washington, D.C. In what could be described as a rather odd way of supposedly integrating themselves in the lives of today's youth, four representatives are offering tickets to the typically jam packed event and luring interested customers by presenting themselves as potential seatmates, according to The Washington Post.
While tickets to Swift's concerts do not usually cost a fortune, getting the opportunity to seat with these politicians appear to have added extra incentive - thus, extra costs as well. For a chance to rock out with Democrat representatives such as Illinois Rep. Cheri Bustos, Wisconsin Rep. Gwen Moore, and Florida Rep. Lois Frankel, Swift concert-goers will have to pay $2,500 per ticket. Meanwhile, Republican fans need not to fret as Ohio Rep. Steve Stivers also offer the same deal but with a lower price. Stivers presents himself as potential seatmate in the concert for $1,500 per person, or $2,500 for two Swift fans.
In comparison, the standard tickets for the highly anticipated Swift concert are priced as around $54.50 to $134.50. Meanwhile, the VIP packages are at $199 to $479 per person. In terms of the perks included in the prices, the most costly VIP ticket will include an exclusive invite to a separate "1989" preshow VIP lounge, limited edition tour lithographs, on-site VIP paparazzi to capture the preshow action and moments, access to secure on-line VIP site where you can download preshow images for free, dedicated on-site VIP preshow host, and other exclusive on-site VIP perks.
However, this is not the first time for Swift's concert to be joined by politicians. According to Sunlight Foundation, this has happened in previous years. In 2011, the said foundation then wrote, "Six members of Congress will be attending the August 2 performance. Republican senator John Thune, R-S.D, will join Republican representatives Jo Bonner, R-Ala., Michael Grimm, R-N.Y., Tom Price, R-Ga., and Kay Granger, R-Texas, in the Swift sing-along. Rep. Heath Shuler, D-N.C., is also scheduled to fundraise at the Swift show. The invitation to join the co-chair of the Blue Dog Coalition features a distraught looking Swift and suggests invitees bring their son or daughter to join them at the show."
For those interested to avail of the politicians' offers this year, the 1989 World Tour concerts in Washington, D.C. will be held on July 13 and July 14, 2015 at 5:00 in the afternoon. Both will take place in the Nationals Stadium.
