An unreleased handset from LG has been spotted in Geekbench's database.
According to the listing, the mysterious device is powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor and packs 4GB of RAM.
The device has the model number LG-F600L and comes with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system. The site, however, did not mention the commercial name of the featured product or any of its other details.
This led various sites to speculate as to what the unnamed LG device could be.
Phone Arena noted that it could be the LG G4 Pro, the South Korean tech giant's premium version of its current flagship handset. Since the LG G4 already came with the Snapdragon 808, the device listed on Geekbench might be another version of this handset.
Earlier in March, Cho Jun-ho, the head of LG's mobile business, teased that the company is preparing to launch a new flagship device during the second half of this year. According to the executive, the upcoming smartphone will sport more high-end specs than the G4.
However, he did not reveal the details of the company's next flagship handset. But according to various sources, it is expected to come with a Snapdragon 820 processor.
On the other hand, device F600L might actually be the Nexus handset that LG is developing for Google. It was previously reported that Google is planning on releasing two versions of the 2015 Nexus handset and has turned to LG and Huawei for their development.
According to Business Insider, the Nexus handset that will come from LG will sport a 5.2-inch display and will be powered by the Snapdragon 808, the same processor spotted on the F600L.
On the other hand, the Nexus device from Huawei will feature a bigger display at 5.7 inches. It will also have a more powerful processor in the form of the Snapdragon 820.
Despite having similar processors, BGR noted that the F600L might not be the LG Nexus handset since according to Geekbench's listing, the former runs on the latest Android Lollipop version. This contradicts previous reports suggesting that the 2015 Nexus device being developed by the South Korean company will come with Google's upcoming OS, the Android M.
Despite the speculations of sources, the name of the device tested by Geekbench remains unknown as of the moment. Hopefully, LG will release more details regarding the device and confirm its actual name in the near future.
