Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is continuously being linked to a move out of Real Madrid, but the Mexican soccer star reiterated that he is still unsure of his future after the current season.
Hernandez was acquired by Real Madrid via a one-year loan deal with Manchester United last offseason. Based on the amount playing time he is getting this season, most analysts are convinced Chicharito should bring his talent elsewhere to make bigger impact.
Hernandez has been playing behind fellow superstars Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez this season. Benzema recently went down with an injury, giving Hernandez a chance to display his skills.
Chicharito did not disappoint as he scored the game-winning goal against Atletico Madrid in their Champions League tie, which propelled Real Madrid to the semifinals. The 26-year-old Mexican also scored two goals in their 4-2 win against Celta Vigo on Sunday, which kept their Spanish La Liga title hopes alive.
When asked if he thinks his recent performances were enough to earn a permanent deal from Real Madrid, Hernandez said that he is not ready to talk about it and he just wants to enjoy his time at Bernabeu.
"More than anything else they've served to give me confidence. I love playing football. It's what makes me feel good," Hernandez told reporters. "Only God knows where I will be this time next year. For moment, my only plan is to continue enjoying this moment and helping the best team in the world."
Hernandez admitted that he has experienced tough times because of getting limited opportunities, but he vowed to continue working hard to help his team reach their goal this season. In 18 league appearances this season, Hernandez scored six goals and tallied six assists for Real Madrid.
"It is my turn to enjoy the moment," Hernandez said. "There's nothing better than being out there on the pitch, I want to enjoy it and give my best for the team. What I have learned is that succeeding is down to me and I have to continue working hard. There will always be bad days and good days."
Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal reiterated that Hernandez will not return to Old Trafford again. Van Gaal said he is aware of the recent performances of Hernandez, but he does not think it is enough to earn a major spot in their rotation next season.
"When you score a goal - as he has just done for Real Madrid - are you suddenly different? I don't think so," Van Gaal told Marca when asked about the possibility of reacquiring Hernandez for next season.
