After buying Nokia last year, Microsoft slowly took over the mobile division's reins and launched its own brand - the Microsoft Lumia.
Unfortunately, even after merging with Nokia and launching the latest Windows Phone 8.1 version in its handsets, WP still accounts for only less than four percent of the entire mobile market, as BGR reported.
However, it seems the Redmond giant is still confident in its plan in releasing entry-level handsets aimed at EU markets.
According to a report from Phone Arena, the software and hardware company has just announced the Microsoft Lumia 435 in Ireland. In the report, the device costs only €80 or about $84 so it willd definitely benefit the budget-conscious market.
However, with more dirt-cheap Android smartphones in the market than ever before, what can the Microsoft Lumia 435 offer?
Based on the report, the Lumia handset packs a 4-inch display with 800 x 480 resolution, which is similar to the Lumia 520 which shook the EU market a couple of years ago.
The processing department features a dual-core CPU that is clocked at 1.2GHz. The phone runs on a Snapdragon 200 chipset, Adreno 302 GPU and 1GB of RAM.
In the storage category, the Microsoft Lumia 435 only has an 8GB built-in storage, though it has a microSD card slot that can handle up to 128GB of memory.
The camera department consists of a 2MP primary shooter, and a 0.3MP front cam, which may not be ideal for people who love taking selfies. The phone is powered by a small 1,560mAh battery.
In the report, the device will be available at Tesco Mobile Ireland for only €80, though there are reportedly cheaper options available. The report claims that interested buyers can get the Microsoft Lumia 435 at a much cheaper price of $37 USD from Carphone Warehouse.
For the US market, the Lumia 435 will reportedly make an appearance as well, though it may hit stores as late as April.
Based on previous reports, Microsoft is also planning to launch a high-end device that will be the successor of the Lumia 930 from Nokia, which made its debut last year.
A previous report from ZDNet claims that Microsoft will use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset to develop its new flagship. Unfortunately, there are no updates regarding that device just yet. When it does get announced, it would probably run on the latest Windows 10 multi-platform OS from Microsoft.
