In last Sunday's episode of "The Walking Dead', Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) led his group of survivors into the Alexandra safe zone and revealed that he is well prepared to take over the town, whether he has to deal with humans, zombies or both.
In the "Remember' episode, Rick's heavily armed group was asked to give up their weapons as they agreed to move into the new community and seek solace in a normal town.
Rick was first introduced to former Ohio Congresswoman Deanna Monroe (Tovah Feldshuh), who is known for keeping an eye on the safe zone. She made it clear to Rick that the place is "all about transparency' and that the planned community should be "the start of sustainability.'
With her discussion being filmed, she also asked Rick to explain his side while facing the camera.
"People out there are always looking for an angle," Rick said. "Looking to play on your weakness. They measure you by what they can take from you."
Some of the other survivors, including Glenn (Steven Yeun), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride), were also interviewed by Deanna and were given separate jobs within the community.
Aside from making it known that she used to be a congresswoman in Ohio, Deanna also revealed that she decided to build a home in the safe-zone community with her husband and sons.
"I want you to help us survive," she told Rick. "I know you can help us do that."
On the other hand, Deanna was not able to extract as many details as she was expecting from Daryl, who refused to sit down. The only statement the crossbow carrier made was: "The boy and the baby. They deserve a roof, I guess."
Michonne was keener in showing that she was ready to seek shelter and settle down.
"If this place is what you're saying it is, then this is what we wanted," she told Deanna. "We're ready for this."
Similarly, Glenn showed his willingness to fit in the community but seemed to be driven by desperation as opposed to Michonne's optimism, considering the fact that Maggie (Lauren Cohan) still struggles with everyday life.
In the last interview, it was Carol who broke the tension and pretended that she was a meek and innocent survivor, saying that she has been a "den mother" all this time.
"I did laundry, gardened, always had dinner on the table for Ed when he came home," Carol said when asked about what she was doing before the outbreak. "I miss that stupid wonderful man every day."
Now, Rick's group has been given two large homes for them to share. Rick even shaved and began sporting the clean look again. However, because their weapons were surrendered and they were being split into two separate buildings, the survivors naturally suspected something.
The episode also showed how the safe zone community handled things differently compared to Rick's team, including the slaying of zombies. Consequently, Glenn ended up with a fight against Aiden, Deanna's son.
Rick and Michonne, nonetheless, were given lawkeeping jobs and have now become responsible for the peace and security of the town.
When Rick told his group that they could settle down in their own homes, Carol was the first to express her concern that the group may become weak in such community.
To this, Rick answered: "We won't get weak. That's not in us anymore. We'll make it work. If [the people of the Safe-Zone] can't make it, then we'll just take this place."
