"The Walking Dead' star Norman Reedus recently fueled rumors that Glenn Rhee, played by Steven Yeun, could meet an unfortunate fate in the sixth season of AMC's hit zombie drama series.
Reedus, who plays fan-favorite Daryl Dixon on the show, admitted that the departed character from the TV adaptation that he will miss the most is Maggie's husband.
During an interview with MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con this month, several "Walking Dead' cast members, together with executive producer Greg Nicotero, were asked which characters they would want to return, or rather be resurrected from the dead, and come back to the series.
In the video that can be viewed below, Sonequa Martin-Green aka Sasha says that it would be favorable to bring back Shane, who was played by Jon Bernthal in the first two seasons.
Meanwhile, Andrew Lincoln, who portrays group leader Rick, is in agreement with Nicotero that it would be an interesting take if Shane and Lori, played by Sarah Wayne Callies in the first three seasons, remain on the show.
For Yeun's, the Korean-American actor says that he misses Herschel, played by Scott Wilson from seasons two to four, as well as Jeffrey DeMunn's Dale, who was a regular character until he was killed off in the second season. Both elders were considered by Yeun as Glenn's "professors, his teachers" on the TV adaptation.
Interestingly, towards the end of the clip, Reedus, who can be seen laying his head on the lap of Melissa McBride aka Carol, yells out: "Glenn."
Owing to the fact that Glenn is still alive on the TV series, it remains unclear whether Reedus accidentally revealed a major spoiler or he is merely joking with the show's fandom.
As seen in the last few seconds of the interview, Nicotero makes a correction for Reedus, saying: "Glenn is still alive on the show."
Lincoln seems to be taken aback with what Reedus has said, or could possibly be just playing along as McBride and Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne on the series, laugh along.
Speculations about Glenn being killed off soon have already gone viral online as images of bats were shown in the first few episodes of the show's last installment.
Some fans have pointed out that the recurring appearance of bats in the fifth season was a form of prediction for Glenn's death, as his comic book version was killed off by villain Negan using his well-known baseball bat Lucille.
At the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas, executive producer Robert Kirkman dropped hints that they will be putting forward "a lot of cool stuff" with Glenn in the sixth season.
"We don't kill the popular characters," Kirkman teased, with Yeun adding: "If I go -- that could happen."
However, if the well-loved character does meet his demise next season, this could indicate a "meaningful" death.
"The way that we make the show -- the writers and everybody really want to focus on making things poignant and purposeful and meaningful," Yeun explained. "So if it were for Glenn to go, then it's probably going to be awesome."
