With "The Walking Dead' moving towards the period of Negan's arrival as the AMC hit series comes back next month, another important character from the comic books has been revived.
Actor Xander Berkeley has signed on to the cast and will appear as Gregory in the second half of the sixth season. While AMC has kept mum about key details regarding the character's TV version, comic book readers have long known that he is the leader of the Hilltop Colony who will bring on even more problems for Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), most especially.
Despite being a leader, Gregory is a cowardly character, and his involvement with Rick's group of survivors results to Glenn's (Steven Yeun) death and the poisoning of Maggie.
It remains uncertain whether Gregory's story in the source material will be told exactly as it is in the TV version; however, with his nearing arrival and the upcoming debut of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) at the end of the sixth season, Glenn's fans will still be greatly disappointed.
"Negan is the leader of the Saviors. He's the new biggest threat, possibly the biggest ever threat that's ever been introduced in the 'Walking Dead,'" series executive producer Robert Kirkman said following the midseason finale.
Meanwhile, the official midseason premiere trailer showed the former pizza delivery boy passing into the "safe zone" and possibly running towards Maggie to save her. In the later portion of the footage, his pregnant wife can be heard screaming, probably because of Glenn's attempt to kill off a zombie.
In addition, the trailer featured Rick's voiceover in which he said, "I thought living behind these walls was possible. I was wrong."
After the mid-season finale aired in November, "The Walking Dead' producer Scott Gimple unveiled his own preview of the show's return by stating: "We will be wooing you with the weirdest of Valentine's Day gifts: Chaos, terror, heartbreak, heroics, tragedy, and terror. Yes, that's two terrors," he wrote.
Gimple also promised that the ninth episode will be one of the zombie drama's biggest episodes, and that co-producer Greg Nicotero along with the cast and crew "made magic."
"Make sure your television boxes are in good operation conditions and install safety belts on your couches. This one is gargantuan," Gimple further teased.
"The Walking Dead' season six is set to return on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
