With the highly anticipated return of "The Walking Dead' season six, excitement continues to build up among viewers as AMC released the official trailer for the series' mid-season premiere.
In episode 7 titled "Heads Up,' Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Enid (Katelyn Nacon) were able to escape to the outer edges of Alexandria. However, at the time, a large horde of zombies had already broken into the walled community. The duo remained outside of its walls when the eighth episode titled "Start to Finish,' came to an end.
During the first part of the episode, Glenn made it clear that he will not let his wife Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and his survivor friends face great danger inside without attempting anything.
In the 30-second trailer for episode nine titled "No Way Out,' Glenn was able to pass into the "safe zone" and is presumed to have been running towards Maggie to save her. However, in the later portion of the promo, his pregnant wife is shown screaming, possibly caused by her husband's attempt to put a bullet through a zombie's head.
The footage also featured a voiceover by Rick (Andrew Lincoln) in which he said, "I thought living behind these walls was possible. I was wrong."
Despite his absence in the promo, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was mentioned, and comic book readers are aware that he is the next big danger that is to come to the survivors.
"Negan is the leader of the Saviors. He's the new biggest threat, possibly the biggest ever threat that's ever been introduced in the 'Walking Dead,'" series executive producer Robert Kirkman explained after the midseason finale.
He also shared positive words about the casting of Morgan as Negan, describing him as "an absolutely amazing actor," and that he possesses numerous personality traits that his "Walking Dead' character encompasses.
"Negan himself is a catalyst who fundamentally changes what we're doing with 'The Walking Dead' and how these characters exist and really messes a lot of things up for Rick in a lot of terrifying ways," Kirman added, promising that: "There's a lot of cool stuff in store for the 'Walking Dead' fans when he debuts."
"The Walking Dead' season six midseason premiere airs on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 9 p.m. on AMC.
