"We desire to unify all believers and see a spiritual awakening in this generation. We are committed to equip and train worship teams to become better ushers of worship."
Undignified Tour, a worship ministry that stems from the college ministry Korea Campus Crusade for Christ (KCCC), recently released its second album, titled, "Radiance."
Undignified Tour began in 2006, and the band not only leads worship in the KCCC setting, but also expands its involvement into the local church setting, and is frequently invited to church events such as praise nights or worship leading workshops. It stands as one of the few, if not only, Korean American worship teams that tours in the local area and collaborates with local churches. Since the band's inception, it has collaborated with several hundred local churches in the Southern California region.
"For each album that we've produced, we went about creating them because God puts certain songs in our hearts, and we want others to worship alongside us in that," said Bobby Oh, who leads Undignified Tour. "And as this album's title is "Radiance,' we created this album with the heart that we want God's light to shine through us, His people."
"Radiance," which was officially released on Good Friday, contains four original songs written by Undignified Tour, including the titles, "Radiance," "Holy and Righteous," "Great Are You Lord (Psalm 145)," and "The Light."
"Radiance" and "The Light"--which start and end the album, respectively--lead the listener to worship and celebrate the beauty and radiance that exude from Jesus' glory, while "Holy and Righteous" and "Great Are You Lord" feature simple lyrics of exalting God for His greatness, goodness, and holiness.
Other cover titles in the album include rich, reflective songs including "Holy Spirit," by Bryan and Katie Torwalt; and "Sinking Deep," by Aodhan King, Joel Davies. Upbeat songs such as "Only King Forever," by Charlie Hall, Mack Brock, Steven Furtick, and Wade Joye; and "Closer" by Braden Lang, Jason Igram, Joel Davies, Reuben Morgan are also included in the album, in which worship leaders are heard encouraging people to dance and shout.
The latter aspect of getting fellow worshippers to dance and "get crazy" during worship was an aspect that Oh has particularly wanted to bring to the Korean American church context.
"I realized that for many Korean Americans, it takes a while to set them free from the fear that someone next to them might think they're weird if they worship in a certain way," Oh said. He added that ultimately, Undignified Tour doesn't simply want to function as a worship leading band, but a team that is used to edify the church and to expand God's kingdom.
"We don't exist to just lead worship," Oh said. "We want to help influence worship in the Asian American church. We're not doing this for our glory, or for our own sake, but for God's kingdom to expand and grow."
