The Guardians of the Galaxy movie almost had a heartbreaking ending when Rocket's sidekick Groot turned into a huge wooden ball and enveloped his friends in order to save them from an impending crash.

When Rocket asked him why, it was only then that the creature who only knew how to utter the statement "I am Groot" for his entire life changed his wordings and said: "We are Groot."

His friends all survived the crash, but Groot unfortunately didn't. He was torn into pieces and Rocket chose to save a piece of him and replant him, Groot being a talking tree and all.

And towards the end of the movie, it seems like Rocket's efforts paid off - there was a baby Groot who was seen happily dancing to the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" song.

In a recent interview with Doug Benson for his podcast Doug Loves Movies, the actor who portrayed Groot James Gunn revealed some unknown information about the baby Groot dancing scene.

In it, baby Groot would shake around and wave his arms from side to side while Drax the Destroyer concentrates on cleaning his weapon. After a few seconds of dancing though, Drax turned around and baby Groot immediately froze, as if not dancing in the first place. Drax continues to inspect the scene then later, goes back to cleaning. After that, baby Groot resumes his happy dancing.

"There was actually a scene that we cut from the movie where big Groot was dancing to 'Livin' Thing' by ELO," said Gunn. The actor was actually responsible for baby Groot's adorable dance moves, thanks to CGI wizardry, and he even said that "it wasn't such an elaborate dance."

"It was more that he was just moving up and down like this, and Drax was dismissive and gave him this look like he was a loser when he did that," he described.

It's very curious why baby Groot would not want his friend Drax to see him dancing and maybe get the serious-looking fellow to dance along with him, but Gunn said that baby Groot had a good reason why.

"Dancing is ludicrous to Drax. I don't think he understands it. If Drax owned a town, if he was a mayor, the first law would be no dancing. But yeah, so at the end of the movie, little baby Groot didn't want to get caught dancing, because he would kill him," the actor added.
