Rumors linked to X-Men: Apocalypse have been surfacing nonstop as of late despite the fact that the movie is yet to start filming. One of the most widely circulated speculations is the possibility of featuring the same actors portraying the same characters. In a report from Venture Capital Post, Ian McKellen will reprise his role as Magneto.

"Yes, I understand that it seems to be very unlikely that I will be in the next 'X-Men' movie, which is almost getting ready to start shooting in Montreal, but Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it," confirmed Patrick Stewart, who played Charles Xavier, otherwise known as Professor X in past X-Men movies.

With respect to the plot, however, no official details have been revealed to give fans and followers of the franchise an idea on the possible villain the superhero mutants might be facing in the upcoming film. However, it appears that the more keen viewers already have speculations on the next enemies based on the final parts of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Judging from the title of the upcoming film, it could be presumed that Apocalypse will be the main enemy to battle it out with the team. In an Instagram post by Brian Singer, the director of the movie, on Monday, it could be gleaned that the giant ship may be a major part of the film as well. Comic Book speculated that this might be an artificial intelligence (A.I.) entity, which is called Ship.

Ship is said to have served as the home base of the villain Apocalypse, who utilized the technology offered by the said A.I. to his advantage and to become immortal. This tale, according to the report, tells of the life of En Sabah Nur, an Egyptian immortal who soon became known as Apocalypse. He was reportedly the first ever mutant to come into existence.

In contrast with the earlier film, X-Men: Apocalypse will be set 10 years after, or in 1983. Hence, younger versions of the mutant superheroes could be expected in this upcoming movie. In an earlier report, it was revealed that the character of Jean Grey will be played by the Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner.

Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy will be reprising their roles in the movie, while Evan Peters will also be back as Quicksilver. X-Men: Apocalypse will premiere on May 27, 2017.
