Christian Today has reported extensively about Newsnjoy, whose CEO is Kang Do-hyun, warning that Newsnjoy is a fifth column planted by supporters of the National Liberation Front (followers of the North Korean Juche ideology). Newsnjoy is intent ondestabilizing and destroying Christianity. The prosecutor's office ruled in favor of this reporting, stating that "the suspicion [about Newsnjoy] was validly raised based on the specific circumstances."
Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office dismissed the legal case (2019Case No. 30168) that Newsnjoy filed against a Christian Today reporter and several others. The reporter was accused of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, relating to defamation, reputational damage, interrupting business, and other offenses. The official reason for dismissal of the case was listed as insufficient evidence.
Last year, the Christian Today newspaper reported that Newsnjoy was closely related to a village community that openly praises, and is inspired by,North Korea's Juche ideology and political system. Indeed, the group is more extreme in their support for North Korea than any other pro-North Korean leftist organization.
Newsnjoy failed to post any convincing official statement, and belatedly filed a legal case against Christian Today. But the prosecutor's office cleared the defendant of all suspicion, and therefore, this case has been closed.
