Rumors have been swirling for the past couple of months that Chris Pine is torn between choosing from two different roles in two different superhero movies - Hal Jordan in "Green Lantern" and Steve Trevor in "Wonder Woman." And now, it looks like the actor has finally made his decision.

According to The Wrap, Pine has just closed a deal with DC Movie Universe to play Trevor - the long-time love interest of Diana Price, better known as Wonder Woman, who will be played by Israeli-born actress Gal Gadot. The multi-picture deal includes the actor's role not just in the first "Wonder Woman" movie, but also in its sequel options.

When asked about this deal, a representative for Warner Bros. failed to give any. For a while, it sure felt like Pine is ready to become the next Hal Jordan in the rebooted "Green Lantern" film called "Green Lantern Corps."

He reportedly lost out the role to Ryan Reynolds in the original film, which unfortunately was a huge flop and critics had a field day tearing the movie apart. Reynolds received a second shot at redemption in the superhero universe playing the disfigured and mentally unstable mercenary Wade Wilson, better known as the anti-hero Deadpool. "Deadpool," which was directed by Tim Miller, has been given a release date of February 12, 2016.

"Wonder Woman" will be directed by Patty Jenkins, who was originally chosen by Marvel Cinematic Universe to direct one of their "Thor" films. However, "creative differences" were cited and Jenkins departed from the project, much to the displeasure of lead actress Natalie Portman.

"Wonder Woman" will be produced by Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Charles Roven, and Richard Suckle for Atlas Entertainment. The script was written by Jason Fuchs, right after he finished working on another film with Warner Bros. - Joe Wright's "Pan."

Gadot's Wonder Woman might be making her first appearance in the upcoming DC movie "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," but Pine's character will be introduced only on June 23, 2017 - the release date of Wonder Woman's standalone film.

For the meantime, Pine is busy filming "Star Trek Beyond" with director Justin Lin. He will also be seen in Netflix's "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp" and Craig Zobel's "Z For Zachariah."

He has just finished working on Disney's coast guard drama called "The Finest Hours," and he also has "Comancheria" under his belt with Jeff Bridges and Ben Foster.
