David Beckham defended his daughter Harper on Instagram after reading an article criticizing her use of a pacifier on Monday, Aug. 10. Beckham posted a screenshot of the article and shot back at people who criticize parents.
"Why do people feel they have the right to criticize a parent about their own children without having any facts ??" wrote Beckham. "Everybody who has children knows that when they aren't feeling well or have a fever you do what comforts them best and most of the time it's a pacifier so those who criticize think twice about what you say about other people's children because actually you have no right to criticize me as a parent"¦"
The article inquired why Harper uses a pacifier when she is four years old. It also inferred that she may acquire a speech impediment if she prolongs the use of the pacifier.
The Daily Mail ran a large photo of Beckham wearing a black cap and a black Pink Floyd shirt standing next to Harper, who was wearing a pink star patterned dress. Harper's face was blown up in a circle on the side to emphasize her use of the device.
"Why does Harper, four, still use a dummy? Experts warn David and Victoria Beckham's little girl may end up with "speech or dental issues' if she continues to use on," wrote Jemma Buckley in an article for The Daily Mail.
Beckham's Instagram defensive post received 504k likes in the span of six hours. Fans commended Beckham for his words.
