Microsoft unveiled on Wednesday an upgraded version of its Nokia 105 mobile phone.
The device, which also features a dual SIM variant, sports updated specs and will enter the market with a retail price of just $20, PC Mag reported.
The Nokia 105 first came out in 2013. Two years later, Microsoft decided to re-launch the device with improved features. The company detailed the features of the device through the Lumia Conversations site.
The 2015 version of the Nokia 105 is equipped with a 1.4-inch LCD display with a resolution of 128x128 pixels. Although it still features the same candy-bar shape and alphanumeric keyboard, the new Nokia 105 sports a slimmer design.
Microsoft also upgraded the device's operating platform from the Series 30 to the Series 30+. In addition, 2,000 contacts can now be stored in the new device. This can be considered as one of the phone's major improvements since the original model can only store 500 contacts.
The company also tweaked the audio quality of the Nokia 105 2015 to provide better voice clarity.
Aside from the phone's functions, Microsoft also upgraded the rating of the device's removable battery to 800mAh.
The firm boasted that with the new battery, the phone can now offer up to 15 hours of talk time. The original version, on the other hand, can only provide up to 12.5 hours. On standby mode, the phone can last up to 35 days on a single full charge.
As for the device's entertainment-related features, the Nokia 105 comes with an FM radio and the "Snake Xenzia and Bubble Bash" games.
Both the single and dual SIM variants of the Nokia 105 2015 share the same features and run on the 2G mobile network.
The two models are expected to go on sale in various regions sometime in June of this year with a retail price of only $20. Microsoft noted that the price of the phone could change depending on local taxes and other subsidies.
